Chandigarh Administration Intensifies Preparations Ahead of Prime Minister’s Visit on July 17, Comprehensive Dry Run Scheduled
The Chandigarh Administration has accelerated preparations for the Prime Minister’s visit on July 17, 2026, with a high-level review of security, protocol, traffic, venue management, emergency services and public facilities. A comprehensive dry run on July 16 will assess departmental readiness and ensure seamless coordination for a secure and well-managed official programme.
Placing special emphasis on public convenience, the Deputy Commissioner instructed officials to make adequate arrangements for drinking water, public parking, toilets and medical assistance at the venue. He further directed that comprehensive contingency measures be put in place in the event of rainfall, including proper drainage systems, waterlogging-free premises and safe, dry pedestrian pathways to ensure uninterrupted public movement and convenience.
The Deputy Commissioner also instructed the concerned officers to establish comprehensive arrangements at the Green Room, the helipad and all designated protocol areas. He directed that every logistical and protocol requirement be completed well in advance while ensuring uninterrupted power supply, fully functional public address systems and all other essential services throughout the programme.
Venue In-Charges, Executive Magistrates and Sector In-Charges have been assigned specific responsibilities at Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh, the venue of the programme, as well as along the VVIP movement routes. The designated officers will oversee stage management, seating arrangements, protocol compliance, parking management, crowd control and the maintenance of law and order to ensure flawless execution of the event.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that a comprehensive dry run will be conducted on July 16, 2026, to evaluate the preparedness of all departments and verify seamless coordination among the agencies involved. He directed all officers to remain present during the exercise, immediately rectify any shortcomings identified and ensure foolproof arrangements ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit on July 17, 2026.
The review meeting was attended by senior officers from the Chandigarh Administration, Chandigarh Police, Engineering Department, Transport Department, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, Chandigarh Housing Board and other concerned departments. Concluding the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized that every arrangement must be completed well in advance and instructed all officers to remain vigilant, work in close coordination and ensure flawless execution of their assigned responsibilities, reflecting the Administration’s commitment to conducting the high-profile visit with maximum efficiency, security and public convenience.
